All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

RIDE Starting Location: Sailboat Cove, Creve Coeur Lake

Time of Departure:   8:00 AM 

Description: Riding from Creve Coeur Sailboat Cove through St. Charles to New Town and back. Additional 5 mile loop available.  Supposed to be nice weather!

Ride Leader’s Expectations: Final Speed – 12 to 13 mph & 14 to 15 mph averages. Depending on group size and rider willingness to lead, there could be different speeds and sub-groups on this ride. Be advised that if you vary from the official route, you are on your own.  Many times, there are stretches where speeds will increase.  Distance – Options for 45 to 51 miles.  Climbing Elevation: 1190′ to 1227′ of climbing depending on route. This ride has rolling hills.  Riding time: Approx. 3.5+ hours, time on course 4 hours.

Directions:

From I-70

  • Route 141 (Maryland Heights Expressway) south for 2.4 miles.
  • Left on Marine Ave. for 0.4 miles.
  • Right to Sailboat Cove parking lot.

From I-64/Hwy40

  • Route 141 (Maryland Heights Expressway) north for 8.5 miles
  • Right on Marine Ave. for 0.4 miles.
  • Right to Sailboat Cove parking lot.

Please print a copy if you want one.  Ride Leaders have minimal copies.  All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s  Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link.  I recommend riders carry a cue sheet if they are not familiar with the route.

Stops: • #1 St. Charles Tourism Center & #2 Marsala’s Market, New Town

Road Hazards:  There will be some pockets of water at the trail tunnel and perhaps on N. Main Street in St. Charles. Decisions will be made at the tourism center whether we’ll take the trail or stay on the planned route.

Weather:    Ride will be canceled if it is raining, high percentage of rain or high winds.  Check the weather forecast and check this ride calendar for any updates on the morning of the ride.
