STLRC – Upcoming Rides and Events

Participation in STLRC Rides & Hikes is at your own risk. STLRC assumes no liability.

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Starting Location: Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL

Time of Departure:     8:00 AM

Description:  Rolling ride through pleasant, southern Illinois back roads with the Belleville Circle-K on Dintelman as our rest destination.   Ride Leader plans on riding the 48 mile route.

Ride Leader’s Expectations:  Speed – 14 to 15+ mph Average.  Slightly lower speed average if there is a 2nd flight. Drafting – We like to work together and will be drafting on this ride.   Distance – 48 or 41 miles.   Elevation: 2000′ of climbing. This ride has rolling hills, and some longer grades.

2nd Flight:  If anyone wants to lead a 2nd Flight, please let Joe Kruchowski  (jsjcat@sbcglobal.net or 314-766-0646) know so he can adjust the posting title.

Directions: 

• From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
• Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
• Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
• Turn right into the Schnucks MarketPlace parking lot.
• We usually park out away from the Pediatric Dentistry storefront.

Cue Sheets: Columbia – Cherry – Cloverleaf – Belleville CircleK – Cement Hollow – Gall

All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s  Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link.  Riders should be able to find their way back if an unforeseeable event happens during this ride.

Please print a cue sheet if you can.  Ride Leaders will have limited extra copies.

Stops: Re-Group stops as needed. Belleville rest Stop will be the Circle-K on Dintelman.  Optional Rest Rooms in Millstadt at Circle-K on the long return at 30.1 miles.

Road Hazards: 

Weather Considerations:    The ride will be canceled if it’s raining at departing time or high percentage of rain forecasted, too windy, or too cold/hot. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home. Contact ride leader with questions.
