All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Starting Location:  Schnucks Lake St. Louis   –    Due to Interstate Road, going to Quail Ridge Park, being closed.

Time of Departure:  9:00 AM

Description: Riding From Lake STL Schnucks with lots of rolling hills to Cuivre River State Park & back. Today’s ride will be approx. 53.3 miles miles with 3100′ of climbing. Sorry, no short option.

Ride Leader’s Expectations:  Final Speed – 1st Flight 14.5 – 15+ mph Average.  2nd Flight 12 mph average.  We will cruise at times at 16-20 mph depending on wind direction and terrain.  Drafting – There will be drafting on the 1st Flight on this ride.  Check with 2nd Flight ride leader for their intentions as to drafting. Distance – 53.3 miles . Climbing Elevation: 3100′ of climbing on this route. This ride has rolling hills with a couple of short 8% hills.  Riding time: Approx. 4+ hours, time on course 4.75 hours.

2nd Flight:  Sue DiPiano is leading a 2nd flight at a 12 mph pace on this ride.

Directions:

  • From I – 64:
    • Take Hwy 64 West to Exit 1C.
    • At top of ramp, Go Left on Prospect Road
    • At Circles, proceed straight on Prospect Road.
    • Right on Interstate Drive
    • Left on Quail Ridge Parkway.
    • Quick Left on Bluestem Way.
    • Straight to 2nd parking area with restroom on right.
  • From I – 70:
    • Take I-70 West to Exit 209.
    • At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto State Hwy Z.
    • Left on Interstate Drive.
    • Right on Quail Ridge Parkway
    • Quick Left on Bluestem Way.
    • Straight to 2nd parking area with restroom on right.

Please print a copy if you want one.  Ride Leaders bring just a few copies.  All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s  Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link.  Riders should be able, on their own, to navigate back to the starting point if they get disconnected from the group or have an emergency.

Stops: Several opportunities for rest rooms stops – #1 Moscow Mills FastLane, #2 Cuivre River Visitor Center, #3 Main Rest Stop – Troy FastLane – Hwy 47 & Hwy 61, #4 Optn. Rest Rooms – Mr. Fuel Travel Center – Hwy W and N Service Rd.

Road Hazards:  We’ll be on a few busy roads for a little bit.

Weather Considerations:  Probably be  little cooler today. Might need a jacket & leg warmers. Don’t forget to put on your sunscreen.  Ride will be canceled if raining at start, high percentage of rain forecasted, too windy or hot. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Any doubts, Contact ride leader with questions.

Special Notes:  Rest rooms available at ride start at Hucks or Schnucks.
