Participation in STLRC Rides & Hikes is at your own risk. STLRC assumes no liability. All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members, non-members must join by their second ride.

Starting Location: Marsala’s Market – New Town. Parking just north of Rue Royale Street across from Marsalas.

Time of Departure: 8:30 AM

Description: Riding from Marsala’s in New Town to Portage des Sioux round trip.

Ride Leader’s Expectations & Objectives: Overall average speed: 13.5 – 14.5 mph.  There are stretches where speeds will be 17- 20 mph . This is a no drop ride. Distance – 34 to 40 miles. Elevation: no climbing. Bring water, tools, spare tube, and money. Please print out the ride cue sheet.

Directions to start from I-270:

From I-270 Take Hwy 370 North to St. Charles
After 7.2 miles take Exit 5 and go east on New Town Boulevard
After 2.5 miles turn right to W. Canal street
Continue on Canal St 0.6 miles to Arpent St.
Turn right then left at Rue Royale St.
Go Left on Civic Circle and park just north of Marsala’s.

Experience Level: 3Cb – 3Cc

Stops: Rest stops at Smartt Field mile 13, Lady of the Rivers mile 20. No Restaurant stops until finish at Marsala’s for lunch option.

Road Hazards: None known.

Weather Considerations: The ride will be canceled if raining or too windy at start time or if the forecast looks sketchy. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website Calendar in the morning because that’s where I’ll cancel the ride if necessary.
