Waterloo to Prairie du Rocher – TIME CHANGE

Starting Location: Waterloo, IL Walmart parking lot
Time of Departure: 7:30 AM Start
Description: Riding to Prairie du Rocher from the Waterloo Walmart. Will be going down through Renault. Should be able to get a sandwich, snacks and drinks at Myer’s Korner Market if so inclined. Rest Rooms available at Waterloo Walmart at the start and at Prairie du Rocher City Park.
Ride Leader’s Expectations: Final Speed – 14.5 to 15+ mph Average. We will cruise sometimes at 16-22 mph. Many times there are stretches where speeds will increase. Drafting – We will be drafting on this ride. Distance – 52 miles – Sorry, no short return. Climbing Elevation: 2029‘ of climbing. This ride has rolling hills and one long climb up Fults Road. Riding time: Approx. 4+ hours, time on course 4.5 hours.
2nd Flight: If anyone else wants to lead a 2nd flight at a more moderate pace on this ride, please contact the ride leader if interested.
- I-270/255 SE across the JB Bridge.
- Go right at Exit #6 towards Columbia/Hwy 3 south.
- Go for 9.1 miles to HH Road.
- Turn right on HH towards Walmart.
- Turn left at first street and then right into Walmart parking lot.

Stops: Re-group stops as needed to stay together. #1 Optional Rest room break at 3.4 miles Amoco at Front and Market Streets. #2 Main Rest Stop in Prairie at Myer’s Korner Market with rest rooms on Main St – Prairie City Park.
Road Hazards: N. Moore Street closed so we’ll go down the bike path adjacent to Hwy 3. Might be some unaccounted for fresh chip seal out there. Monroe County has been pretty active the last few weeks chipping roads.
Weather concerns: We won’t start in the rain or if excessively windy, or if a large weather front is moving in. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home. Contact ride leader with questions.
