All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Starting Location: Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL

Time of Departure:     7:00 AM

Description:  Rolling ride on Deer Hill to Madonnaville then back to Waterloo rest stop.   Second loop through Gilmore Lake and return via Hanover and either D Road or Levee Road. Mileage options can be a short as 40 but Leader will do the 50 mile option.  Paper cue sheet at start.

Ride Leader’s Expectations:  Speed – 13 to 14 mph Average.  Many times there are stretches where speeds will increase.    Elevation: 2,100 ft of climbing. This ride has rolling hills, some long grades.

2nd Flight:  If anyone wants to lead this ride at a faster pace please contact the posting ride leader of your intentions.

Directions: 

  • From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
  • Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
  • Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
  • Turn right into the Schnucks Market Place parking lot.
  • We usually park out away from the Pediatric Dentistry storefront.

Stops: Re-group stops as needed. The Waterloo rest stop will be the Mobil Convenience Store

Road Hazards: Might be some chip n’ seal out there.

Weather Considerations:   The ride will be canceled if it’s raining at departing time or high percentage of rain is forecast, too windy, or too hot. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home. Contact ride leader with questions.
