STLRC – Upcoming Rides and Events
New Town to Calhoun County – w/2nd Flight POSTPONED to WEDNESDAY 7/10

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.
Starting Location: Marsala’s Market – New Town. Parking just north of Rue Royale Street across from Marsalas.
Departure Time: 7:00 AM
Description: Riding from Marsala’s in New Town to Calhoun County. We will be taking the Golden Eagle Ferry out and back so bring $10 fee – Cash only.
Ride Leader’s Expectations & Objectives: Distance – 44, or 51 miles Elevation: 1832′ to 2100′ of climbing including a couple of steep climbs. The Ride Leader is planning on the longer route unless it’s scorching hot.
2nd Flight: Karen Parham is leading the 2nd Flight NO DROP at a more moderate pace.
Directions to start from I-270:
- From I-270 Take Hwy 370 North to St. Charles
- After 7.2 miles take Exit 5 and go east on New Town Boulevard
- After 2.5 miles turn right to W. Canal street
- Continue on Canal St 0.6 miles to Arpent St.
- Turn right then left at Rue Royale St.
- Go Left on Civic Circle and park just north of Marsala’s.
Cue Sheet: New Town to Calhoun County – Ridge or Poppe Return,
The Salt Spring Hollow cue sheet includes all ride options. Please print a copies as needed. Ride Leaders have minimal copies. All participants are expected to bring either a cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. If unable to, speak to the Leader before the start.

Experience Level: 4Cb – 4Cc
Stops: Porta-Potty on Calhoun Co side of Ferry Crossing. Rest/Food at AJ’s in Brussels. Good hamburgers and breakfast sandwiches.
Road Hazards: Short sharp uphill off the ferry, be in low gear before setting off.
Weather Considerations: The ride will be canceled if it’s raining at the start time or if the forecast looks sketchy. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar and check this Posting in the morning.
