All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Join us to work off some of those extra holiday dinner calories we all enjoyed.  Dress warm. We will be drinking hot coffee in Belleville.

Starting Location: Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL

Time of Departure:     10:00 AM

Description:  Rolling ride through pleasant, southern Illinois back roads riding through Millstadt on our way to Belleville as our rest destination.   Mileage option is 41 miles.  Imbs Station Road is closed for a bridge repair so we’re just going to do the 41 mile route.

Ride Leader’s Expectations:  Speed – 12 to 13 and 14 – 15+ mph Average.   Go faster if you want but ride leader plans on a leisurely ride. Some may go faster. Many times there are stretches where speeds will increase. Drafting – Yes   Distance – 41.1 miles.   Elevation: 1509′ of climbing. This ride has rolling hills and some long grades.

Directions: 

  • From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
  • Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
  • Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
  • Turn right into the Schnucks MarketPlace parking lot.
  • We usually park out away from the Pediatric Dentistry storefront.

Cue Sheet:  Columbia – Centerville – Millstadt – Park – Belleville Circle K – Zingg (Winter Route)

Please print a copy if you want one.  Ride Leaders bring a couple of extra copies.  All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s  Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. If unable to, speak to the Leader before the start.

Stops: 1st Stop – Circle-K Millstadt and then on to the Belleville Circle-K on Centreville & Dintelman

Road Hazards: Keeping an eye out for “Black Ice”.

Weather Considerations:   Start time temps will be in the mid 30s.  Dress warmly.  Make sure your feet, hands, and face are protected.  The ride will be canceled if it’s raining at departing time or high percentage of rain forecasted, too windy, or too cold. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home. Contact ride leader with questions.
