Sailboat Cove to New Town and Beyond

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.
Road Construction Update: Boschertown Road is under construction and Saddleridge is blocked due to new pavement being poured. We will go the Bike Trail route through Fox Hill Park down to cross Boschertown to get into and through New Town. We’ll regroup up by Fox Hill Park and I’ll lead you through to get to Hwy B.
RIDE Starting Location: Sailboat Cove, Creve Coeur Lake
Time of Departure: 9:30 AM
Description: Riding from Creve Coeur Sailboat Cove through St. Charles to New Town and back. Additional 5 mile loop available. Please advise the ride leaders if you are going to deviate from the posted routes.
Ride Leader’s Expectations: Final Speed – 12 to 13 mph & 14 to 15 mph. Pick your poison. Many different speeds and groups on this ride. Be advised that if you vary from the official route, you are on your own. Many times, there are stretches where speeds will increase. Drafting – There may be drafting on this ride. Distance – Options for 45 to 51 miles. Climbing Elevation: 1190′ to 1227′ of climbing depending on route. This ride has rolling hills. Riding time: Approx. 3.5+ hours, time on course 4 hours.
Directions:
From I-70
- Route 141 (Maryland Heights Expressway) south for 2.4 miles.
- Left on Marine Ave. for 0.4 miles.
- Right to Sailboat Cove parking lot.
From I-64/Hwy40
- Route 141 (Maryland Heights Expressway) north for 8.5 miles
- Right on Marine Ave. for 0.4 miles.
- Right to Sailboat Cove parking lot.
Cue Sheet: Sailboat Cove to New Town & Back – Bike Trail (Slight detour will be involved and we won’t follow the cue sheet by Fox Hill Park)
Please print a copy if you want one. Ride Leaders have minimal copies. All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. If unable to, speak to the Leader before the start. I recommend riders carry a cue sheet if they are not familiar with the route.

Road Hazards: Road construction is happening around New Town. Be careful!
Weather: Ride will be canceled if it is raining, high percentage of rain/snow, heavy winds, or if temps take a turn for really colder weather. Check the weather forecast and check this ride calendar for any updates on the morning of the ride.
