Description: Celebrate the newest expansion of the Meramec Greenway along the I-44 Bridge.  This newest Meramec Greenway Expansion is built along the I-44 Bridge over the Meramec River, and connects you to Emmenegger Nature Park, Powder Valley, Unger Park, Fenton City Park, Olde Towne Fenton, and George Winter Park.  The celebration will be held in EmmePark  There will  be live music by Lindbergh High School Marching Band and John Jarrett Music.  Free snacks from Kona Ice and TreauX’s Cajun BBQ and nature activities.  Our ride begins at Fenton Park. We will circle the park and then head on to Mini HaHa and George Winter Parks.  Then back to Fenton Park and take the Meramec Greenway up the Emennegger.  One hill to this park–certainly ok to walk it.  One slight hill towards Mini HaHa.  Otherwise, the ride is entirely flat.  Approximately 20 miles but we can add on if desired.

IF POSSIBLE WEAR YOUR STLRC JERSEY.

There are many ways to get to Fenton Park.  But this avoids the way most people will travel and also use the shuttle.

Cue Sheet: no necessary–no drop ride.
Experience Level: 2Aa  This is a social ride not a race.  One hill up to Emennegger.  It’s ok if you walk it.  Slight hill when going towards Mini Ha Ha Park.  Otherwise completely flat.  This ride is all on trails except for a few quiet blocks in Olde Towne Fenton to connect us to Mini HaHa Park.  The ride over the Meramec River has a dedicated lane for walkers and cyclists that provides a barricade between cars and bikes.  It is not a busy street.
Stops: Emennegger Nature Park for the festivities   Restrooms available.  Also restrooms at Fenton, Mini Ha Ha and Winter Parks.

Other:  STLRC has been involved in public meetings during the development stage.  We were able to suggest changes to the first plan to make it even better.  Our Club also got news recognition and quoted us in Greenway articles.  The next step is a route connecting this trail to Grant’s Trail.  Ultimately the trail will continue to Eureka and beyond as well as a bridge over the Meramec into the trails by Simpson Park in Valley Park.  Our attendance shows our thanks  and support of the Great Rivers Greenway (128 miles and counting).

Weather Considerations: Ride will be canceled if there is a good chance of inclement weather during the ride. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Always view the website the morning of the ride in case of cancellation and for a cue sheet.
