Participation in STLRC Rides & Hikes is at your own risk. STLRC assumes no liability. All participants must wear a helmet.

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Ride leaders have the right to exclude riders who in their judgement are not in compliance or not suited to participate.

RIDE Starting Location: Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL

Assemble: 7:40 am

Time of Departure: 8:00 am

Description:  A mixed terrain ride.  Pancake flat for 20 miles, a challenging hill then gentle rollers for the rest of the ride. Final average speed 14-15 mph; higher speeds on flats. If anyone wants to lead this ride at a faster pace, please contact the ride leader of your intentions.

Special Considerations: At time of posting the temperature at start time may be below 50 degrees – dress appropriately.  It will get sunny so use sunscreen and water; bring  bicycle lights, and snacks.  All riders need their own cue sheet.

Directions to Start Point:

  • From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
  • Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
  • Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
  • Turn right into the Schnucks Market Place parking lot.
  • Park several rows in front of the Pediatric Dentistry storefront.

Rest Stop: Snack and convenience stop at Valmeyer, mile 33. Regroup as needed to keep together.

Notes:  At this initial posting time, the expected temperatures will rise to the sixties. There is only one stop opportunity so bring water. Check the weather forecast and updates to this posting for heat, rain and wind advisories. The ride will be canceled if adverse weather conditions are likely.
