Starting Location: Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL
Time of Departure: 8:00 AM
Description: Rolling ride through the back roads to visit Smithton, IL.
Ride Leader’s Expectations: Final Speed – 15 to 17 mph Average and 14 to 15 if there is a 2nd Flight. We will cruise sometimes at 16-22 mph. Many times there are stretches where speeds will increase. Drafting – There will be drafting on this ride. Distance – Options for 48 to 52 miles. Climbing Elevation: 1814′ to 2070‘ of climbing depending on route. This ride has rolling hills. Riding time: Approx. 3.5+ hours, time on course 4 hours.
2nd Flight: If anyone is interested in leading a 2nd Flight on this ride at a more moderate pace, please contact the posting ride leader to alert others to your intentions.
- From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
- Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
- Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
- Turn right into the Schnucks MarketPlace parking lot.
Cue Sheet: Columbia – Centerville – Waterloo – Smithton
Please print a copy if you want one. Ride Leaders have minimal copies. All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. If unable to, speak to the Leader before the start.

Stops: Several to re-group as needed. Optional Rest Rooms – Mobil OTR Waterloo. Main Rest/Food stop in Smithton at the Casey’s convenience store on Main St (Hwy 159) and Brevo St.
Road Hazards: Centerville Road has the usual potholes in the turns.
Weather Considerations: The ride will be canceled if: It’s raining or there is a high percentage prediction of rain, high winds, or too hot. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home.
