Starting Location: Beulah Trail (Shelter)in Greensfelder County Park on Scenic Loop Road, Wildwood/Eureka MO off of Allenton Road.

Meeting time: 9:15 am

Time of Departure: 9:30 am

Description: We will return to hike the 4.5 mile Beulah Trail loop with about 400 feet of elevation including a couple of big hills.  There seems to be  a shorter in and out hike for 2 miles on the Overlook Trail although I haven’t ever done that.  It was my favorite hike this season, so I must do it again.  Leader is doing the whole 4.5 miles.  I will not be hiking a breakneck speed so I can enjoy the surrounding nature.  Am interested in seeing if there is still snow at Hidden Valley which you can see from the trail.

Directions:

  • From 141 and I-44,  go west for 11 miles on 44 to exit 261 for Six Flags.
  • Right on Allenton for 1.5 miles
  • Turn right on Scenic Loop Road for .9 miles
  • Turn right to the Beulah Trail Shelter  (GPS doesn’t have you turning there–watch for sign–you won’t see a shelter either.  GPS had me continuing on the road and said I had arrived when I was in the middle of nowhere.

 Experience Level: Moderately Challenging

Other: It doesn’t appear to have restrooms.  There is a gas station and McDonalds at I-44 and Allenton  and one on 109 near 100.  Consider wearing hiking boots and bring hiking poles.  At least bring an extra pair of shoes in case you get horse poop on your shoes.  That wasn’t a problem the last time we did this.  We also didn’t encounter any mountain bikers.  Trail is in very good condition.  Not trecherous.
