Starting Location: Parking lot is at the end of Washington/Grand closest to the trailhead by the miniature trains.
Meeting time: 9:15 am
Time of Departure: 9:30am
Description: We will hike the Al Foster Trail/Rock Hollow Trails to look for blue bells (which are currently in bloom at the Botanical Garden). This is a flat hike starting on the Al Foster unpaved trail 8/10 of a mile to the Rock Hollow Trail where there is a gradual incline. The Rock Hollow Trail is paved. The Rock Hollow has the most abundant blue bell growth. The Rock Hollow Trail is 2.3 miles long but leader doesn’t plan on doing the whole trail. If enough interest we will turn back on the Rock Hollow to continue on the unpaved Al Foster which follows the river. Options are to just do the Al Foster which is around 4 miles miles round trip to Sherman Beach and back. There are blue bells on this trail but not as abundant as the ones on Rock Hollow. Since this is an in and out hike, you can go further or return sooner. Leader plans on hiking for about 4 miles. (Don’t shoot the leader if the blue bells aren’t in bloom, but they were in full bloom at the Botanical Garden. This is one of our member’s most popular hikes.
