All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Starting Location: Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL

Time of Departure:     10:00 AM

Description:  Rolling ride through pleasant, southern Illinois back roads with the Belleville Circle-K on Dintelman as our rest destination.   Ride Leader plans on riding the 48.1 mile route.  Imbs Station is still closed for bridge construction until May.

Ride Leader’s Expectations:  Speed – 14 to 15 mph Average.  12 to 13 mph if there is a 2nd flight. Drafting – We like to work together and will be drafting on this ride.   Distance – 48.1 miles.   Elevation: 2000′ of climbing. This ride has rolling hills, and some longer grades. No terrible climbs and you get to speed down Cherry Street!

2nd Flight:  Steve Leach is leading a 2nd Flight on this ride at a more moderate pace.

Directions: 

• From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
• Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
• Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
• Turn right into the Schnucks MarketPlace parking lot.
• We usually park out away from the Pediatric Dentistry storefront.

Stops: Re-Group stops as needed. Belleville rest Stop will be the Circle-K on Dintelman.  Optional Rest Rooms in Millstadt at Circle-K on the return at 37.6 miles.

Road Hazards: 

Weather Considerations:   There are some rain showers forecasted for early morning and I will certainly be keeping an eye on those. The ride will be canceled if it’s raining at departing time or high percentage of rain forecasted, too windy, or too cold/hot. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home. Contact ride leader with questions.
