Portage de Sioux Picnic Ride

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

 Starting Location: Portage des Sioux Nature Area at Main and Saucier, Portage du Sioux

Arrival Time:  8:45 am

Time of Departure:  9:00 am

Description:  An almost flat ride up to 30 miles to enjoy the popular fried chicken dinner in Portage des Sioux.  Use the posted cue sheet.  There are 2 routes available–20 and 30 miles.  This is a flat ride but we will cross several railroad tracks.  After the ride we will attend the picnic.  Food service begins at noon.  Cost is $17.00.    Tables will be in large dining hall and outside seating There will be raffles, games, and a truck pull at the picnic.

Restrooms at the church where the picnic is held.

Directions: 

  • From I-270 exit 270 take exit 22A and 22B for MO-370 west.
  • Follow signs for 370 west
  • Use the right two lanes to take exit 7 for MO-94E
  • Keep left at the following signs for MO-94E
  • Turn left onto MO-94 E/N 3rd Street)
  • Continue straight onto Hwy H
  • Turn right onto Common Field St
  • Turn left onto Saucier St.

Other: Due to the high temperatures last year, we are starting near the dinner site and can adjust the mileage as needed to accommodate the possible hot conditions.  Bring plenty of water and possibly a Gatorade.
