West County North w/2nd Flight

Starting Location: Dierberg’s @Taylor Road
Time of Departure: 7:30 am
Description: Riding from Taylor Road Dierbergs to our first rest stop at the BP station by the St. Louis Premium Outlets and then returning back through Wildwood and Rockwood Reservation. Options for 40 to 45 miles. Ride Leader is leaning towards the 40 mile route.
Ride Leader’s Expectations & Objectives: Speed: 14 – 15 mph Average and 12-13 if there is a 2nd Flight Drafting – We like to work together and will be drafting on this ride. Distance – 40 or 45 miles. Elevation: 1900′ to 2550′ depending on route. There are a few climbs on this route.
2nd Flight: Leslie McCormick is leading a 2nd Flight at a more moderate pace on this ride.
Directions to start from Hwy 141:
- From Hwy. 141 go west 6.6 miles on Manchester Road (Hwy 100) .
- Turn Left on Taylor Road for one block
- Left into the Dierberg’s Parking Lot.
Cue Sheet: West County North
All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. Riders should be able to find their way back if something unforeseen happens.
Print a cue sheet if you want one. Ride Leaders will have just a few extra.

Experience Level: 4Dc – 4Db
Stops: Rest/Food at BP Station on Convenience Way and Olive Street Road. Rest Rooms in Rockwood Reservation on the return. We will re-group after the climbs and to bunch back up.
Road Hazards: Be careful on the downhills. Gear down to go up Orrville. There are no porta-potties at the John LeCave Trailhead. Some hoodlums keep vandalizing them so they’ve been removed.
Weather Considerations: Ride will be canceled if raining at start time, forecast looks sketchy, too hot or windy. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar.
