Starting Location: Marsala’s Market – New Town. Parking on Civic Circle just north of Rue Royale Street across from Marsalas.
Time of Departure: 7:00 AM
Description: Riding from Marsala’s in New Town through Calhoun County. Bring $10 for the Golden Eagle Ferry. Yes, they increased the cost for a ferry ride to $5 each way.
Ride Leader’s Expectations & Objectives: Speed: 13.5 – 14.5 mph Average. Remember – this is an average. Many times there are stretches where speeds will increase. Drafting – There will be drafting on this ride. Distance – 44.5 to 50 miles. Elevation: 1832′ to 2100′ of climbing depending on route. Supposed to be hot on this day so the short option is in play. Ride Leader is planning on the 44.5 mile route.
Directions to start from I-270:
- From I-270 Take Hwy 370 North to St. Charles
- After 7.2 miles take Exit 5 and go east on New Town Boulevard
- After 2.5 miles turn right to W. Canal street
- Continue on Canal St 0.6 miles to Arpent St.
- Turn right then left at Rue Royale St.
- Go Left on Civic Circle and park just north of Marsala’s.
Print one out if you want one. Ride leader has minimal copies of cue sheet.
Experience Level: 4Cb – 4Cc
Stops: Several re-group stops to gather together. Rest/Food at AJs in Brussels.
Road Hazards: Plan on hot weather so bring plenty of electrolyte drinks and some snacks. Only you know how your body reacts to the warmer temps.
Weather Considerations: Ride will be canceled if raining, too hot or too windy at start time or forecast looks sketchy. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website Calendar because that’s where I’ll cancel if necessary.
