Hello All,

First, don’t forget to send in your 2025 membership!!  Please check your personal information – especially your emergency contacts – on the website and update the form if necessary.  Dues are ONLY $20 until February 1!  Don’t get caught out and have to pay the extra $5!

Elections for the Board of Directors will be held electronically.  The voting window will be between December 5 and December 19.  We are electing four Directors and we have four candidates and all four of them are currently serving on the Board.

Patti Brumleve is currently our Membership Director.  She receives the membership forms (and checks) and updates the member information spreadsheets. She says:

“My first real bike experience was in 2014, when I rode my comfort bike the entire length of the Katy Trail.  At the end of that year, I bought a nice road bike and I was hooked.  I joined St. Louis Recreational Cyclists in the spring of 2015, in order to get some miles in before a week-long bike trip that June with my husband.

“I love getting exercise and being outside.  Most of my miles are in the St. Louis area, but my husband and I have also enjoyed several rides in other states.  In addition we enjoy bike packing and hiking.  My husband and I also volunteer at a bike rehab ministry.

“Using my gifts of administration and organization, I have enjoyed managing the member information for our club for several years.  I have also served on the board for the last few terms.  The members of STLRC are a pleasure to be around and I look forward to continuing to serve them.”

Bruce Crask is our Social Media Director;  he manages our FaceBook page.  He says:

“I’m retired now, but bicycling has always been a joy to me.  In the 60’s I would ride for several hours every day.  In the mountains in Nevada in the early 80’s, and in my extended travels out west.  After moving back to Missouri I found the AYH rides and have now been enjoying being a STLRC member for over (hard to believe) ten years, and serving on the board for the last two.”

Jerry Wittle is our Vice President.  He says:

“I joined STLRC in 2013 and have been riding in the St. Louis area since 1977.  I especially like riding the Madison County Trails, MetroBikeLink, Katy Trail and around Columbia Illinois.

“I have been a member of he STLRC board and Vice President in 2023.  My main duty has been interacting with the insurance company when there’s been an incident and making sure that the club has the right insurance coverage.  I also track the STLRC hikes and participants in a database that I created.

“I was an aircraft mechanic in the US Air Force for 24 years so I’m pretty good at things like fixing flat tires and adjusting derailleurs.

“As far as other qualifications, I was the president of the Air Force Sergeants Association chapter at RAF Upper Heyford, England in 1990.”

Joe Kruchowski is our Ride Committee Chair and one of our webmasters.  He says:

“My Wife, Sharon, and I joined STLRC in March of 2016.  We attended the Spring banquet and didn’t know anyone.  We started to ride with Wayne Marsh’s group.  That was painful at the beginning but we gradually got stronger and became better riders.  After several years, Wayne asked me to lead the rides that he couldn’t be present for and I gained valuable experience doing this.  Wayne asked numerous times if I would like to be on the STLRC Board which I refused until several years ago, when we switched to our new website.  I volunteered to be on the Board to be one of the webmasters along with Jane O’Donnell.

“I have been leading rides for 6 years now, making up new routes, establishing Ride with GPS navigation files for my routes and other ride leaders’ routes.  I’m always looking for new routes or to put a new twist on older routes.  I update cue sheets for some of our long-established routes and help other members with proposed routes.  Also, I keep the RidewithGPS Club account up to date.

“I’m also responsible for physically updating the website with membership files, sign-in sheets, and other various files such as newsletters and meeting minutes.

“I look forward to continue serving the Saint Louis Recreational Cyclists Club in my current capacity if re-elected.”

When it comes time to actually vote, there is a red button on the Protected Members Area page, just under “Page Exclusively for Members of St. Louis Recreational Cyclists”.  Between December 5 and 19, 2024, please vote for four candidates as there are four positions to fill.  Please vote only once (although you will get multiple reminders to vote).   If you have misplaced the password or if you have any other questions please send an email to admin@STLRC.org.

Regards,

Leslie McCormick
