Hello STLRC Members,  Our Popeye Century ride is coming up next month, Thursday, October 10th.

I would like to make two offers to STLRC members but need some help doing so.  Before I put anything in the posting for October 10th, I want to see if there is any interest in the offers below.

1st Offer: I would like to offer a 2nd Flight that would ride at a slower pace or maybe at the pace that is currently advertised at the 14-15 mph average. The 1st flight will ride faster and many of you have expressed concerns about maintaining faster speeds which may be preventing you from participating.  So this means that we need a 2nd Flight Leader or Leaders.  We need  volunteers to lead the 2nd Flight.  Please think about it and get back to me if interested.

2nd Offer:  Mini-Popeye Ride — Good News! Steve Leach has volunteered to lead the Mini-Popeye ride out of Prairie du Rocher in conjunction with the Popeye Century ride. So if you’re interested in going down to Chester to have lunch at the St. Nicholas Landmark restaurant with the century group, but don’t want to ride 100 miles, you can do a Mini-Popeye ride.  You would park your cars down at the Prairie du Rocher City park, meet up with the century riders coming in for a rest stop at approximately 9:30AM, and ride down to Chester for lunch.  After lunch you would ride back to your vehicles at Prairie du Rocher.  That would be a 46 mile round trip.  See the October 10th Mini- Popeye ride posting for more details. More info will be inserted there.

SAG Vehicle: We have a SAG driver who would support both flights, with your snacks, drinks, and wardrobe changes.  They would make sure to be at the designated rest stops but not necessarily hanging behind the group.

Note on the SAG vehicle – The SAG vehicle is for emergencies and rest stop replenishment.  Please make sure your finess level can handle riding 100 miles. We have one vehicle for emergencies and to haul our drinks & snacks. That’s why I want to offer the 50 mile Mini-Popeye ride so members can still enjoy the day without killing themselves trying.

Please let me know, either by email or text if you want to help out with any of these offers.
