Participation in STLRC Rides & Hikes is at your own risk. STLRC assumes no liability.                          

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Starting Location:  Marsala’s Market – New Town. Parking just north of Rue Royale Street across from Marsalas.

Assembly Time:  7:40 AM

Departure Time:  8:00 AM

Description: Riding from Marsala’s in New Town to Calhoun County. Will be taking the Golden Eagle Ferry so don’t forget to bring $10 for that.

Ride Leader’s Expectations & Objectives:  Speed: 13.5 – 14.5 mph Average.  There are stretches where speeds will be greater. Distance – 44, 50 or 52 miles.  Team decision at the rest stop at AJ’s in Brussells. The 52 miler is a Ridge Road/Poppe Lane loop on the 50 mile route.    Elevation: 1832′ to 2100′ of climbing.

Special Considerations during this time:

Directions to start from I-270:

  • From I-270 Take Hwy 370 North to St. Charles
  • After 7.2 miles take Exit 5 and go east on New Town Boulevard
  • After 2.5 miles turn right to W. Canal street
  • Continue on Canal St 0.6 miles to Arpent St.
  • Turn right then left at Rue Royale St.
  • Go Left on Civic Circle and park just north of Marsala’s.

Experience Level: 4Cb – 4Cc

Stops:  Rest/Food at AJ’s in Brussells. Good hamburgers and breakfast sandwiches.

Road Hazards: Short sharp hill off the ferry. Be in low gear before setting off.

Weather Considerations:  Ride will be canceled if raining at start time or if the forecast looks sketchy. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar ad check the Posting in the morning.
