STLRC – Upcoming Rides and Events

Participation in STLRC Rides  is at your own risk. STLRC assumes no liability.

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.

Starting Location:  Marsala’s Market – New Town. Parking just north of Rue Royale Street across from Marsala’s.

Assembly Time :   7:10 AM

Departure Time:  7:30 AM

Description: Riding from Marsala’s in New Town to Calhoun County. We will be taking the Golden Eagle Ferry out and back so bring $10 fee –  Cash only.

Ride Leader’s Expectations & Objectives:  Distance –  Options: 63, 62, 57, 56, or  51 miles.  Elevation: 2069′ to 2601′ of climbing including up to 5 climbs steeper in parts than 10% depending on which route is selected.  The Ride Leader is planning on the longest route unless the weather is adverse.

2nd Flight: Anyone wanting to lead either a faster or a more moderate pace or one of the shorter options, please let the Leader know.

• From I-270 Take Hwy 370 North to St. Charles
• After 7.2 miles take Exit 5 and go right on New Town Blvd.
• After 3 miles turn right on New Town Dr. (it’s where the bike path ends)
• Straight at roundabout and continue on New Town Ave.
• Turn left then sharp right at Domain Street past the church.
• Park to the left on Civic Circle (just north of Marsala’s.)

Cue Sheet:         New Town – Calhoun – Salt Spring Hollow – Brussels

The Salt Spring Hollow cue sheet includes all ride options. Please print a copy. The ride leaders has minimal copies.  All participants are expected to bring either a cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. If unable to, speak to the Leader before the start.

Download all of the above routes into your GPS devices in case we change which route we plan on riding.  Ride Leader will discuss with the group at the start or at the main rest stop.

Experience Level: 4Cb – 4Cc

Stops: Hydration / regroup stops; Porta-potty on Calhoun Co side of Ferry Crossing.  Rest/Food at AJ’s in Brussels. Good hamburgers and breakfast sandwiches.

Road Hazards: Short sharp uphill off the ferry, be in low gear before setting off.

Weather Considerations:  The ride will be canceled if it’s raining at the start time or if the forecast looks sketchy. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar and check this Posting in the morning.
