MCT Trailhead to St. Jacob & Marine 50

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.
Starting Location: MCT Trailhead Collinsville, IL
Time of Departure: 7:00 am
Description: Riding on a combination of MCT paved trails and roads to St. Jacob and then on to Marine. Returning on a combination MCT trails and roads. Some short hills.
Restrooms at the start: Available at MCT Trailhead.
Ride Leader’s Expectations: Final Speed: 15 – 16 mph average for 1st Flight. A slightly reduced pace, if there is a 2nd Flight.
Distance – 50 miles. Climbing Elevation: 1363′ of climbing. Riding time: Approx. 3.5 hours, time on course 4 hours.
2nd Flight: If someone volunteers, there will be an official 2nd Flight. If no one steps up, there usually is a group which bands together to ride at the slightly reduced pace.
Directions:
- From I-255, take the Horseshoe Lake Road exit (exit #26).
- East on Horseshoe Lake Road for 0.6 miles.
- Turn right on Freedom Drive, and then turn left, at the tee, on United Dr. (unmarked) to the Metro East Park and Recreation parking lot, directly behind Culver’s restaurant.
- From I-70 east, exit at IL Route 157 (exit #11- Collinsville).
- North on Rt. 157 for 0.5 miles.
- Left on United Drive (the road just before Culver’s)
- Right into the Metro East Park and Recreation parking lot.

Please print a copy if you want one. Ride Leader has minimal copies. All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link.

Stops: Regroup stops as needed. We won’t leave you behind. Limited locations along the MCT. Options for Rest/Food in St. Jacob and in Marine.
Weather and Other Considerations: It will be sunny and hot, so bring sunscreen and electrolyte drinks. The ride will be canceled if it’s raining at the start time, too windy, or if the forecast looks sketchy. Please watch the weather forecast updates and radar. Watch this posting for updates before the ride to make sure the time isn’t adjusted. No fresh seal and chip work is expected but it’s is always possible so be prepared to slow down on new or loose gravel.
