Starting Location:  Dames Park O’Fallon off of Hwy. P about .5 miles west of Main Street. Rest Rooms available at Dames Park.

Time of Departure:  8:00 AM 

Description: Rolling hills to and back from Winfield, MO. Option to ride up and back (8 miles) to the Winfield Ferry landing to check it out for another future planned ride if they ever get the Winfield Ferry running again. Today’s ride will have options for 33, 42 or 50 miles.

Ride Leader’s Expectations:  Final Speed – 14 to 14.5 mph Average.  Sometimes cruising at 16-20 mph. Drafting – We will be drafting on this ride.   Distance – 42 or 50 miles.  Ride leaders for Flight A wants to do the 50 mile route to Winfield Ferry Landing.  Climbing Elevation: 2266′ to 2381′ of climbing depending on route. This ride has rolling hills and some long, gentle grades, and one “you better be in your lowest gear” climb.   Riding time: Approx. 4+ hours, time on course 5 hours. 


  • Head West on I-70  – Exit at exit #218 to E Terra Ln (outer road).
  • Proceed straight .9 miles to right on Main Street.
  • Go north 2.0 miles on Main Street to Hwy P.
  • Turn left and go 0.5 miles to Dames Park entrance on left (Dames Park Plaza sign at entrance)
  • Drive in to parking area.


  • Head West on I-64 -Exit at exit #9 for Hwy K
  • Right on Hwy K
  • Pass under I-70 going North which becomes Main Street
  • From I-70 go 2.0 miles on Main Street to Hwy P
  • Go north 2.0 miles on Main Street to Hwy P
  • Turn left and go 0.5 miles to Dames Park entrance on left (Dames Park Plaza sign at entrance)
  • Drive in to parking area.

Experience Level:  4Cb 

Stops: Rest room stop at the Old Monroe FastLane and Rest stop at Winfield Casey’s on Hwy 47.

Road Hazards: Caution needed at Old Hwy 79 bridge crossing.  Caution needed on the bottom of Birkhead Road where there is a low water bridge.  There is usually a small amount of water flowing across the road there. And then you want to be in your lowest gear because you immediately go up a steep climb.  Not very long but if you’re not ready for it, you’ll be walking.

Weather Considerations: Ride will be cancelled if raining at start or if the weather forecast doesn’t look good. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Any doubts, Contact ride leader with questions.

Special Notes:  Rest rooms available at Dames Park.  This ride has about 2200′ of climbing without any serious climbs.  Lots of rollers.
