STLRC – Upcoming Rides and Events

All rides are free for St. Louis Recreational Cyclists members. Non-members must join by their second ride.
Starting Location: Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL
Time of Departure: 9:00 AM
Description: Rolling ride through the back roads to visit Smithton, IL.
Ride Leader’s Expectations: Final Speed – 1st Flight 14 to 15+ mph Avg. If 2nd Flight, 13-14 mph. Drafting – There will be drafting on this ride. Distance – Options for 43.1 to 46.7 miles. Climbing Elevation: 1535′ to 1864′ of climbing depending on route. This ride has rolling hills. Riding time: Approx. 3.5+ hours, time on course 4 hours. Ride Leader wants to do the the 43 mile route.
2nd Flight – If anyone wants to lead a 2nd Flight at a slightly slower pace or longer distance, please let the ride leader know.
Directions:
- From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
- Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
- Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
- Turn right into the Schnucks MarketPlace parking lot.

Please print a copy if you want one. Ride Leaders have minimal copies. All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. If unable to, speak to the Leader before the start.

Stops: Several to re-group as needed. Main Rest/Food stop in Smithton at the Casey’s convenience store on Main St (Hwy 159) and Brevo St.
Road Hazards: Black ice can be lurking in the shadows.
Weather Considerations: The ride will be canceled if: It’s raining or there is a high percentage prediction of rain, high winds, or too cold. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar. Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home.
