Starting Location:  Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL

Time of Departure:  11:30 AM

Description: Riding through the back roads to visit Waterloo, IL. Options for 36.7 to 44.5 miles.  Ride Leader wants to do the 44.5 mile route.

2nd Flight Opportunities: Anyone is welcome to lead a 2nd Flight at a shorter distance or more moderate pace on this ride.  Please contact the posting Ride Leader to coordinate.

Ride Leader’s Expectations:  Final Speed – 13.5 – 14.5 mph Average.  Sometimes we cruise between 16-20 mph if we have a nice tailwind. Should have a tailwind on some stretches.  Drafting – There will be drafting on this ride.  Distance – 36.7 to 44.5 miles.  Ride Leader prefers the 44.5 mile route. Climbing Elevation:  About 1500′ of climbing on all routes. This ride has mild hills. No big climbs!  Riding time: Approx. 3.5+ hours, time on course 4 hours.  Dress warm. Temps in the mid 40s to maybe 57.


  • From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
  • Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
  • Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
  • Turn right into the Schnucks MarketPlace parking lot.

Stops:  Rest Stop in Waterloo at Mobil On-the-Run on Country Club & Hwy 3.

Road Hazards:   Centerville and EE Roads have a few sections with potholes. Bohleysville Road is a little rough.

Weather Considerations:  Probably be starting in the mid 40s and  hitting 57 maybe.  The ride will be canceled if: It’s raining/snowing or there is a high percentage prediction of rain, snow, high winds or too cold. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar.  Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home.
