Starting Location:  Schnucks Market Place Columbia, IL

Time of Departure:  10:00 AM

Description:  Rolling ride through the back roads to visit Smithton, IL.

Ride Leader’s Expectations: Final Speed – 14 to 15+, Some speedsters may go faster. 12 to 13 mph if there is a 2nd Flight. We will cruise sometimes at 16-22 mph. Many times there are stretches where speeds will increase. Drafting – There will be drafting on this ride.  Distance – Options for 43 to 47.5 miles.  Climbing Elevation: 1538′ to 1792‘ of climbing depending on route. This ride has rolling hills.  Riding time: Approx. 3.5+ hours, time on course 4 hours.

2nd Flight: Steve Leach is leading a 2nd Flight on this ride at a more moderate pace.

Directions:

• From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
• Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
• Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
• Turn right into the Schnucks MarketPlace parking lot.

Please print a copy if you want one.  Ride Leaders have minimal copies.  All participants are expected to bring either the cue sheet, a cycling computer with the ride’s  Navigation files and/or Smartphone with GPS link. If unable to, speak to the Leader before the start.

Stops:  Several to re-group as needed. Optional Rest Rooms – Circle-K Waterloo. Main Rest/Food stop in Smithton at the Casey’s convenience store on Main St (Hwy 159) and Brevo St.

Road Hazards:  Centerville Road has the usual potholes in the turns.

Weather Considerations: The ride will be canceled if: It’s raining or there is a high percentage prediction of rain, high winds, or too cold. Please watch the weather forecasts and radar.  Check the website for any corrections or cancellations before you leave home.
