Starting Location:  Schnuck’s Market Place, Columbia, IL

Assembly Time:  6:40 AM

Departure Time:  7:00 AM

Description: Riding from Columbia for 20 miles on the flats then a hilly return from Maeystown via Deer Hill.

Expectations:  Speed: 13.5 – 14.5 mph Average.  There are stretches where speeds will be greater. Distance – 46 miles.    Elevation: 1500 feet of climbing including a couple of steep hills.

Special Considerations:  Temperatures will reach the high 80’s. Bringing sunscreen and hydration is essential. There are no food for purchase options on this ride.

Driving Directions:

  • From I-55 and I-255 in South St. Louis County go 6.0 miles southeast across the Jefferson Barracks Bridge on I-255.
  • Exit IL Hwy 3 South, go 2.2 miles and turn right on Veterans Parkway @ McDonald’s.
  • Go 0.1 mile and turn left on Columbia Center just past Regions Bank.
  • Turn right into the Schnuck’s Market Place parking lot.

Stops:  Regrouping / hydration stops. Snack break at Maeystown Community Park at the foot of Baum Rd. / Mill Rd. (Cuts 0.5 mile from Route.)
