Note there are no rest rooms available at the Boathouse parking area. Rest rooms are available in the Tourism Center or the park approximately 0.5 mile from the parking area. This is flat route, out and back, about 40 miles, which can easily be shortened. The group will decide where to eat on return to St. Charles. Leader will ride just 20 miles. We’ll eat in West Alton at the “94 West Roadhouse” (very good pub food). Directions: Take Hwy 367 north. It becomes Hwy 67. Turn left (Hwy 94) at the stop light at The Pit Stop Gas Station (rest rooms). After left turn at stop light, continue main road through tunnel to the West Alton Baseball Parking lot on the left. Meet at 9:00 a.m. for a 9:30 start from the Metro East Parks & Recreation Admin Building. Ride 30 - 40 miles on the outstanding MCT paved trail network. Directions: From I-255, take the Horseshoe Lake Road exit (exit #26). East on Horseshoe Lake Road for 0.6 miles. Turn right on Freedom Drive, and then turn left, at the tee, on United Dr. (unmarked) to the Metro East Park and Recreation parking lot, directly behind Culver's restaurant. From I-70 east, exit at IL Route 157 (exit #11- Collinsville). North on Rt. 157 for 0.5 miles. Left on United Drive (the road just before Culver's), then a right into the Metro East Park and Recreation parking lot. Meet at the soccer park on Mueller road off 370 in St. Charles county at 8:30 a.m. to ride at 9:00. This ride will be lead by Joan Fromme and Larry Essmann. A flat 46 mile ride that can be shortened (at 16.1 miles cross Hiway 94 and ride directly into Portage and do not make a right onto Hwy 94 which makes the ride 33 miles) Joan will lead the 46 mile flat ride that travels to the Portage Power Plant and Larry will lead the 33 mile route. Both rides take a break at the Trading Post Store in Portage and are totally flat. After the ride we will return to our cars and drive to Sugarfire BBQ for lunch.
