Parke County, Indiana, boasts – count them - 31 covered bridges! We will see how many we can find during three or four days of riding. From Rockville, Indiana, there are five signed routes of between 25 and 35 miles, each passing by or through four to nine covered bridges. Click Here for Map. I have combined some routes together to create three routes of 53 to 55 miles. Small portions of some routes are gravel; skinny tires are not advised.
We will stay at the Parke Bridge Motel (765-569-3525, www.parkebridgemotel.com) and ride loops each day, following the colored signs along the way. (We can pick up maps at the Visitor’s Center also.) Turkey Run State Park is just ten miles away. It’s a fun place to hike and play and the restaurant in the lodge is great!
Jim and I will get there Monday evening and check out on Thursday morning. But each person is welcome to arrive whenever it’s convenient (transportation to/from Rockville is each person’s responsibility) and check out by Thursday morning. Since we’ll be riding loops out of Rockville, you can choose how many days you would like to participate.
Make your own reservations at the motel, then please contact me and let me know you’ll be participating so I can include you in all the plans. Coordinator: Anne Jesse, cell: 314-757-6784.
